I get it that there are times people are too cautious and resist taking action. While leaders need to take action - often decisive action - leaping without preparation may be okay for the action adventurer - NOT for a leader who wants people to follow.
This week we talk about readying yourself for the action step.
We've talked about: getting on your mark with reflection and observation; getting set with inquiry that drives insight; today we talk about bringing both of these together into the final readiness before action.
It may feel like this four step approach will slow you down and make you less effective - I caution you that when you leap and pull your team down with you, you will be much less effective that when you get comfortable flowing through these four stages as you transition into a new team or prepare for a new project or a major change initiative.
It is stage 3 of the 4 stages - your focus is on the planning and the communication before GO-Time. You were flooded with the insights during the reflection stage and you have now examined them and validated their relevance as you have examined the data and sought diverse input - now you are ready to build, test and communicate a plan to move forward.
