A right is something
a privilege is an entitlement granted by an entity (government, parents, employer) in return for meeting conditions (citizenship, behavior, contribution).
A right is considered something inherent to our personhood. Are your rights a human construct? While the concept of human rights is a belief we choose as human beings, how we value each other determines whether we can build a system based on human rights.
In the #podcast episode I reflect on my struggle with this concept in light of the struggle we seem to have in valuing human beings by choosing to demonstrate dignity and respect freely.
