Leadership isn't managing so we must stop confusing the
two.
Leaders set vision and policy. Their role requires that they
stay above the trees. Without this view of the world or the current
circumstances, very little will ultimately improve.
Managers, on the other had, direct the details, the means to
achieving the direction articulated by leaders.
Each have a distinct role and both must be valued and
acknowledged for the impact that excellence in their role
provides.
It is obvious when examining the performance of an
organization or government.
Podcast Tip: take stock of what your role
requires and become aware of who fills the complimentary role.
Evaluate whether you're staying in your lane. Build a strong
collaborative relationship.
As a coach, I support people in both roles so I see what
happens when they move out of their lane AND when they fail to
support the efforts of the other. Would you benefit from a thinking
partner. Contact me and walk with me to get to where you want to
be.
