A tribal mindset is a fixed mindset. What makes that so? A fixed mindset is about limitations and defining within a limited scope. For example, when you say 'I'm smart' instead of "I'm capable of learning' you are limiting yourself - like a finished product. When you define yourself to a tribe life is more comfortable, like that sleepy town where everyone knows your name and everyone knows and delivers exactly what's expected from them. (Some organizations and some families feel like that too!)
You are capable of learning ALWAYS - the neuroscience is clear about the fact that your brain continues to fire off new pathways for your entire life so capacity to learn continues.
In this week's #podcast episode I reflect on how we, as a species, have worked hard to expand our perspective and while there are signs of our need to cocoon into tribes again - choosing sides - we can do better with a willingness to #dothework.
