"You need to be more discerning. You will do well to beware of people who are aspiring." and she took a long pause...."don't get caught in it."
I loved my time being caught in this leader's maverick tendencies. He was inspiring AND he attracted even seemed to revel in chaos. A leader leaning into their strength of openness nurtures and even inspires innovation. The leader who tilts more comfortably into the strength of diligence establishes and holds steady a culture of safety and stability allowing change to be thoughtful and sustainable.
Both openness and diligence are desirable qualities in a senior leader. Are you able to discern which is needed in your organization and adjust your style so you can deliver it?
